Concept：

My collection is based on the maleficent of human who has two-faced even muti-faced. I was inspired by a novel, Satantango. I like this topic for it explains the path of behavior when a wicked person wants to persecute others. Just like the footsteps of tango dance, sometimes it is close and sometimes distant, being neither friendly nor aloof. Nowadays, the complexity of society forces people to be multi-faced, despite some are good and some are bad. Confronted with these faces, I feel sad for the society and the world. But I have to integrate into this world because I need to live.

Since my inspiration came from Satan, I added the elements of broken things, sheep and wings in my design. I used the elements of down jacket and velvet fabric to embody my self-warming system in the face of the cold world. Divergent abstract wings were made with fishbone and lace rings. I deconstructed a pair of boots and added sheep’s hoofs as a water-proof platform to make the boots conceptual. In the aspect of manipulation, inspired by the pattern of the wound surface, I used silk and organza as the material for embroidery and weaving to create a pattern that looks like a wound but is actually quite clean and beautiful. As for construction, I designed the collar and sleeves that face the viewers from all directions to manifest my concept of the multi-faced human nature. I used red, pink, grey and black to show the bloody tone of despair and silence. Although this series was designed for unisex, I chose to make three sets of menswear and one set of women’s wear. In fashion photography, I took a collage cartoon to tell a classic story about “The Most Vicious is Woman’s Heart”, of which one woman was confronting with three different men with three or four faces.

Taste is the Warmest Memory

Concept :

The title of the collection is “Taste is the Warmest Memory”. It is based on my personal experience and emotion. As a student studying abroad, familiar food and taste are always reminding me homesick. In this collection, I create storage of keeping memories in garments. ‘Taste’ is the portal to recalling memories. Although we recall the old memory by tasting, the moment of recall creates a new memory. This warmest is much tastier than the old memory. Time elapses, the memory can grow bigger like snowball by we recall it and chew it again and again in our head.

            I have researched about when people have a great memory with family, friends and relationship. I noticed that people love the happiness and the food is one of the important factor. It can connect personal experience with people and let people get together easily, even food and taste can be a good topic for making new friends. I also did research of how the previous people made “Duo Bao Ge” and tried the real way to make fabric manipulation of it either on the surface or in the construction of design. The volume of the garments is inspired by this “Duo Bao Ge”. As a baking lover, I tried to back my chiffon silk in the oven. I counted the time and temperature. The result of the experience was very interesting. The chiffon silk became harder, and it has sharpened plication on the surface.

            In the design I used woolen and chiffon to create a structure of “Duo Bao Ge” which is a traditional Chinese storage for treasure in the past and the memory flowing out of the storage. The woolen in the part of top part (digestive system), and chiffon (almost transparent) on the bottom. I would like to cover the place where we digest the food and tastes. I wish this storage can catch and keep the memories, and it can be recalled easily by tasting food. The concept of flowing chiffon is stand for the loosed memories. I used it to represent my idea about memories is flowing around our head. It is hard to storage in steady.

Seeking the Girl

Concept：

My collection is based on feminism. There is unequal privilege of choosing pilot, companies prefer to have male pilot. They post some reasons; women cannot bear as much as men; women cannot have same good sight as men when they are 40 years old; women are more emotional than men. This voice makes feminist get into angry. But I am not agreeing with that. My concept is look for what is the true value of women. I want to enhance the value of being as a girl. I consider that girls should find the job which they are skilled in, instead of contending with boys, in order to reflect the value of themselves.

            In my design, I put the upside down collar on the bottom edge of skirt and shirt. This can support my idea of disagreement with the claim that ‘unequal privilege of being a pilot, is a feminism problem’.

Roaming to the Walkin

This collection is based on a traditional lucky monster “Wen Yao Yu”, a koi with swan wings. The monster means if people see it, then they will have a flourish life in the next year. I liked the koi has swans’ wings, it is like the fish wanting to touch the sky. Now, as a young designer, fashion is the walkin, my wish is to flying to the sky and roaming in the fashion world.

Pledge of Crush

Concept:

My collection is based on the traditional Chinese culture – people exchange the pledge each other in the relationship. In the past, people could not choose their couple by themselves, because they had to marry who their parents gave. If people fall in love with someone else before their parents chose couple for them, they would exchange the pledge with who they love at first. Most of girls would love to use their underwear, traditional Chinese bra stand for the pledge of love. In my design, I fold the traditional Chinese bra, a piece of square fabric, in to origami. I chose five kinds of origami representing my idea of five wishes of keeping love in pure.

            The top bra is the shape of square, which can be folded as five different origami. The origami stands for five meanings of "pledge of love". 1- Lily 2- Crane 3- Paper fortune teller 4- Fan 5- Angel Heart The crease of the origami is a part of manipulation design.

            The choices of fabric, I was inspired by the traditional Chinese patterns and materials, cotton. I used environmentally friendly fabric, organic cotton and a little bit of organic silk. In the previous time, cotton is more common then silk in most of people's life. I combined shiny lace into the designs, because I want the European materials to represent the idea of cultural integration between Chinese culture and global world.

Pledge of Love

Past is in the Past

In this collection, I was inspired by Tulip Mania. The economic failed quickly like the bubble is touched by things. This reminds me the great period of artist and art works. Works are always being substitute by new works. The only one would be kept forever is what we see in the History today. The history is the classic and stay alive forever. I made two garments in this collection. One is the total same historical garment from real pattern of Holland in 17th. One is from a collection illustration I designed for reflecting the historical garment in contemporary version. I not only kept the feature of Holland costume but also enlarge the shoulder and collar as the construction of modern fashion.

Say Hello to Goodbye

Everyone has unique period of puberty, which is very chewy when you recall memories after you are adult. This collection is deconstruction from my old clothes in high school. I had kept them for 3 years after I got into college. I putted them in my closet. Even if they took my too much storage, I did not want to throw them away. I broke them down and re-drape them on mannequin. Then my new garments are born from my old clothes.
